15 Virtual Christmas Activities

1. Name That Holiday Tune

Play a short snippet of famous holiday songs and see who can name that tune the fastest.  This will create a fun competition with points for correct answers, and that will sure to get everyone in a festive mood.
These songs have a great opening for this game – “Run Rudolph run” Chuck Berry, “Santa tell me” Ariana Grande, “I’ll be home for Christmas” Andy Williams, “Wonderful Christmastime: – Paul McCatney.

2. Christmas Playlist Collaboration

Ask your team members to add their favorites to a shared playlist on Spotify or any other music player you are using. Everyone will add their Christmas songs, and you will have a holiday playlist that you can listen to together during the party. You can also share the link of the playlist to all for further listening during the holidays at home. This way you will affect everyone’s holiday mood even in their private life.
Start your playlist with the classics – “All I want for Christmas is you” Mariah Carey, “Last Christmas” Wham!, “Snowman” Sia, “Jingle Bell Rocks” Bobby Helms.

3. Virtual Escape to the North Pole

Create a themed virtual experience where team members “travel” to the North Pole. Use gloww.ai and write a prompt that will take them on a virtual tour with interactive activities, fun facts about the North Pole, and holiday trivia.
Here are 5 facts about the North Pole:

1. There’s no land at the North Pole. Technically, it’s more like a really big iceberg than an island.

2. Sun rise at The North Pole happens once a year. Since the North Pole is located at the very top of the planet, its position relative to the sun doesn’t change as the planet spins.

3. The North Pole was “Discovered” only in 1926 by a Norwegian explorer.

4. The North Pole Marathon – since 2003 the North Pole has hosted an annual marathon in April that attracts some of the world’s most extreme athletes.

5. The First Map of the North Pole is 500 Years Old! Since nobody had yet traveled to the North Pole in the early 16th century, the map was almost entirely made up.

4. Holiday Fitness Challenge

How about starting a fun fitness challenge where the whole team can join in on a virtual workout? You could pick a festive holiday workout, to keep everyone active during the holiday season. If you’re planning ahead, you might even set up the challenge before the holidays to help everyone get in shape. Schedule a 10-minute workout each day and invite everyone to connect on a video call together. It’s a great way to kick off the holidays feeling fit and energized.

5. Virtual Secret Santa

Organize a Secret Santa gift exchange where team members send gifts to one another. Use an online Secret Santa generator to keep it a surprise, or be the coordinator and set the game yourself. Call a budget and give some ideas of things that can be shipped to all of the participants locations or suggest recommended online purchasing. Be sure to include a note, “do not open until our amazing holiday party.” Schedule a Gloww virtual party session to reveal who each person’s Secret Santa is!

6. Holiday-Themed Trivia Night

Host a trivia meeting (don’t have to be at night hours hahahah) focused on all things Christmas! Include favorite things such as traditions around the world, famous Christmas movies, and iconic songs. Use Gloww pre-made templates, in the editor you can go over the scenes and adjust any changes needed. Gloww will make your party interactive and fun.
A few examples of great holiday trivia questions:

Question: What does the red color of Santa’s suit symbolize? Answer: The blood of Christ (though it’s also simply a color choice by Coca-Cola’s marketing in the 1930s)

Tradition or not

7.  Christmas Escape Room

Create a holiday-themed virtual escape room where teams must solve puzzles and riddles to “escape” within a set time limit. You can use online platforms that offer ready-made escape room experiences, or you can design your own challenges. This activity encourages teamwork and problem-solving skills while adding a festive twist.

8. Christmas Cooking Class

Invite a team member to a virtual cooking lesson featuring their festive dish. Use an organized Chef session or ask your teammates whether they would like to host the cooking lesson. Participants can prepare the ingredients in advance and follow along as the host demonstrates the cooking process. This interactive allows everyone to share their culinary skills and enjoy a delicious meal together.

Things you can prepare in a holiday cooking class are: classic Eggnog, spiced hot chocolate, gingerbread cookies, stuffed mushrooms and our personal favorite –  holiday bread pudding.

9. Holiday Karaoke

In your Gloww session, prepare a scene with a speaker view and a YouTube display with the Karaoke version of popular Christmas songs. Team members can take turns singing their favorite tunes. Make sure your teammate can sing so your ears will not be harmed 🙂 .

10. Christmas Scavenger Hunt

Organize a Christmas-themed scavenger hunt where participants must find holiday-related items in their homes. Use Gloww scavenger hunt Christmas template and customize the items to fit your needs. The template hunts for items such as a Christmas ornament, a holiday card, or Santa’s hat. When you click to the next scene the item to be hunted will be shown and the participants will have a time limit to gather their items and share them on camera. After each hunt a show and tell scene will appear, where everybody can share their story about the item.
Here is a short the list of ideas from our template:

  • Christmas Ornament
  • Festive Socks
  • Christmas Card
  • Ugly Christmas Sweater
  • Reindeer Decoration
  • Red and Green Item
  • Jingle Bells
Scavenger Hunt

11. Christmas Craft Session

Be creative and offer your teammates something a bit more unique than the usual holiday decorations. Choose from a variety of special options like: decorate your own Santa hats, DIY Christmas ornament workshop or the beat winning idea is to teach everybody how to make beautiful warp Christmas presents, teach them all how to be an expert like in the reels and clips we see. This activity will allow everyone to work with their hands and hearts, and it also gives everyone a chance to be creative.

12. Virtual Holiday Photo Booth

Create a virtual holiday photo booth where team members can take fun holiday-themed pictures. Use filters and backgrounds that reflect the festive season, and encourage everyone to dress up in their holiday mood. The best part is if you create a digital or printed photo album with all of the photos and share the file with everyone after the holiday ends.

13. Christmas Book Club

Start a Christmas book club where team members can read and discuss a themed book or short story. Choose a title that is suitable with Christmas, and schedule a virtual meeting to share thoughts and insights. After the holidays carry-on with this club and find relevant ideas according to the time.

Here is our list of books to start your club on Christmas (first 2 are classics)

  • The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
  • The Autobiography of Santa Claus by Jeff Guinn.
  • Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan.
  • Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews.
  • Kiss Me at Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
  • Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh.
  • All I Want is You by Falon Ballard.

14. Online Holiday Bingo

Create a holiday-themed bingo game where participants mark off items or activities as they see or hear them during the party. You can include Christmas songs, movie quotes, or holiday-themed phrases.  You can also include personal things that are related to your workplace, or add historic facts or riddles and pans.

15. New Year’s Resolutions Sharing

While celebrating Christmas, take a moment to think on the year ahead by having a session where team members can share their New Year’s resolutions or goals. This activity will encourage everyone to support each other in their aspirations.
