Inspired by the smashit game show franchise of the same name, Minute to Win It games are a great way of putting a virtual team through its paces. An action-packed alternative to traditional team-building activities, these 60-second challenges can be used to break the ice, improve communication skills, and encourage social interaction.

Worried you won’t be able to play Minute to Win It virtually? Think again. Many classic game ideas can be retooled for remote teams, with some of them working exceptionally well online. Need some inspiration? Read on for our pick of the best Minute to Win It games for adults at work.

How to Play Minute to Win It Games

Minute to Win It can be easily played with everyday objects. However, you’ll need to think creatively if you want to play Minute to Win It online. Take a classic like the candy toss challenge as an example. As you won’t be able to measure distances yourself, you’ll have to rely on good faith when team members call in with their results.

Even though most Minute to Win It activities can be played with household items, you’ll need to ensure everyone has access to them before you play. This means preparing an agenda and sharing it with your team ahead of time.

Finally, you’ll need to bring together your team virtually. A user-friendly and reliable conferencing platform packed with interactive features is therefore a must

How to Score Minute to Win It Games

Searching for Minute to Win It game ideas? We’ve picked out 20 of the best that you can test your teams with today.

1. Breakfast Scramble – Minute to Win It Edition

Everyone loves a jigsaw challenge. To play, divide an image of a freshly made breakfast or iconic cereal packet into pieces, tasking players with putting them back together within 60 seconds.

2. Perfect Circles

You’ll need a virtual whiteboard to play this game. Start the countdown timer at 60 seconds and get everyone to draw as many perfect circles as they can before the minute runs out.

3. M&M Straw Game

Online or virtual, this classic party game is the perfect Minute to Win It challenge. Players will need plenty of M&Ms, two plates, and a straw. The aim here is to transfer as many M&Ms from one plate to the other using only the power of suction.

4. Backward Alphabet

Reciting your ABCs backward is easy enough. Doing so in a minute is a different matter entirely. Play this one via video chat or challenge players to type the alphabet backward instead.

5. Cookie Face Challenge

Find out who’s the real cookie monster within your ranks with this quirky eating challenge. The game starts with individuals balancing a cookie on their foreheads before players have to deftly drop those chocolate chip morsels toward their mouth without it crashing to the floor.

6. Math Test

Whether it’s basic arithmetic or advanced algebra, a bite-sized math challenge is a good choice for Minute to Win It sessions.

7. Marshmallow Snowman

Make sure everyone has a bag of marshmallows at the ready, then give them a minute to make the biggest snowman they can. If you want to make things easier, give the green light for toothpicks.

8. Tic Tac Toe

When in doubt, bring out the classics. A game of Tic Tac Toe can easily be completed within 60 seconds, with many online versions available.

9. 50 States

It’s thought only half of Americans can recall the names of every state. Test the geography knowledge of your team by giving them 60 seconds to name as many as they can.

10. Cup Tower

A desk-friendly alternative to the penny tower challenge, players get a minute to build the tallest structure they can with paper cups. While a few might be able to defy gravity, brace yourself for plenty of toppling towers.

11. Supercharged Scavenger Hunt

Draw up a list of everyday household items, then give everyone a minute to find as many of them as they can. Award a point to the player who gathers the most and dish out prizes to anyone who manages to find every item.

12. Human Dictionary

Pick a player at random, then reel off a succession of words from the dictionary. The player then needs to respond with the definition of each term. For fairness, don’t expect a word-for-word definition.

13. Ever Decreasing Boxes

Use a virtual whiteboard to draw a large square, then start the timer as players draw as many smaller squares as they can within. The player who manages to draw the most squares without edges touching wins.

14. Doodle On Your Noodle

Instruct players to place a piece of paper on the top of their head and grab a pen. Then give them the name of something to draw. You can give a single-word cue or describe an ever-changing scene.

15. Charades Overload

This one takes a little preparation. Send a different word or phrase to every attendee before you meet and have them record and send a 30-second charade. For the first half of the minute, play all those recorded charades simultaneously. During the other half, players need to type out as many guesses as they can.

16. Book Balance Challenge

A tricky variation of the cup tower challenge, this game tasks players with assembling the tallest tower of books they can. The twist here is that players use the top of their heads as their foundation, rather than their desktop.

17. Everything Upside Down!

How many everyday items can your team turn upside down in 60 seconds? This chaotic Minute to Win It game will let you find out. The only rule is that every item needs to be in view of a player’s webcam.

18. Sticky Note Switcheroo

Ask players to grab a pile of sticky notes in two different colors, spreading them out randomly on their desks. They then have 60 seconds to move them into two matching piles. What makes this game so difficult? They can only use their mouth to move those memos.

19. Find a Word

Pick out half a dozen consonants and a couple of vowels, then reveal these letters to your team. They then have to create as many different words as they can from those letters before the timer runs out.

20. Who Can Count the Highest?

Split attendees into smaller teams before sending them to breakout rooms. Then, each group needs to count to the highest number possible within a minute. Only one person can speak at a time, with any repeated numbers or players talking over each other calling for an instant reset.
